| Alex Klein & Enrico Pestalozzi et le Las Vegas Country Band Album: “Welcome Home” Pour enregistrer leur nouveau CD de Country Music, constitué à 100% de propres compositions, les Suisses et Fribourgeois d’adoption Alex Klein et Enrico Pestalozzi n’ont pas hésité à faire le voyage jusqu’à Nashville Tennessee (USA). Accompagnés d’une brochette de musiciens de studio américains du cru, notamment le pianiste Dwain Rowe directeur musical de Brooks & Dunn, le résultat discographique a dépassé leurs attentes. Et au-delà de cette production, l’énergie et le fun qui se dégagent de cette capitale mondiale de la Country Music les ont autant inspirés que fascinés. Assurément cette expérience ne constitue que le début d’une histoire d’amour d’Alex Klein et Enrico Pestalozzi avec cette riche culture Country du sud des États-Unis. Le band Formé en 2003. Le nom « Las Vegas » est un jeu de mots se référant aux « players » (les joueurs = les musiciens). Formation dirigée par Alex Klein (lead vocal, guitares) & Enrico Pestalozzi (violon, mandoline, vocals), deux Suisses, Fribourgeois d’adoption (Marsens, Vauderens). Ces deux cow-boys totalisent à eux deux plus de 70 ans d’expérience musicale. Accompagnés en Suisse par un band de concert composé de musiciens locaux expérimentés. Leur offre se décline entre 2 et 6 musiciens dans une version électrique, ou acoustique comme vu au Festival de Montreux 2009. Leur répertoire est 100% Country & line-dance. Dès le début, l’accent a été mis sur l’optimisation de leur spectacle par rapport à la line-dance (danse Country en ligne), car ils ont toujours considéré que les danseurs partagent la même passion pour la Country Music et leur prestation sur le pont de danse complète celle de l’orchestre, contribuant à une image haute en couleurs des manifestations Country. En concert leur répertoire est constitué à 60% de propres compositions et de 40% de grands standards réarrangés de la Country Music américaine. Se produisent dans les festivals et manifestations Country & Line-Dance 40-50 fois par an dans toute la Suisse, ainsi qu’en France, ce qui en fait un des groupes les plus demandés du circuit. Ont même été invités à se produire à deux reprises en Egypte. L’album « Welcome Home » Deuxième album après un premier opus en 2006. A nécessité 1 an ½ de préparation (compositions, arrangements, maquettes). Enregistré à Nashville, Tennessee (USA) en mai 2009. Pour Alex et Enrico, la réalisation du rêve américain, un retour aux sources et au son country véritable, pour s’imprégner encore plus de cette culture Country si chère à leur cœur. 17 chansons composées par le tandem Alex-Enrico, dont 16 chantées en anglais. La chanson Colinda, avec une couleur Cajun, est chantée moitié-moitié (comme la fondue) en français et en anglais, et symbolise pour Alex et Enrico un pont culturel entre le sud des Etats-Unis et le canton de Fribourg. Avec la participation d’une invitée spéciale: Alicia Mary, jeune chanteuse issue de la filière « Little Dreams » de Phil Collins et qui chante deux titres, dont un entièrement composé par elle. Alicia qui est elle-même américaine, a également composé les paroles de plusieurs titres de l’album. Coproduit par Scott Neubert auprès du fameux Studio 19 de Nashville (qui sous le nom de « Music City » a entre autres a appartenu à Scotty Moore, le guitariste d’Elvis Presley). Pour l’oreille avertie, on peut d’ailleurs détecter un zeste de « Southern Feel » (feeling du sud) dans le son de ce disque. Des rencontres et une expérience extrêmement enrichissantes avec des musiciens de Nashville, authentiques et de très haut niveau (chacun d’eux a travaillé avec des toutes grandes stars de la musique country aux États-Unis), engagés pour jouer avec Alex et Enrico, et qui une fois passé un moment de surprise ont eu un très grand respect pour ces Suisses qui jouent de la musique country « mainstream » (traditionnelle). Petite anecdote illustrant l’excellent niveau de ces musiciens : 16 titres sur les 17 ont été des « first takes » (premières prises) à l’enregistrement! « Welcome Home » se réfère au canal d’immigration dans les aéroports réservé aux américains qui rentrent chez eux. A travers ce titre, Alex & Enrico veulent se sentir «chez eux» dans le pays symbolisant la Country Music. Zur Herstellung ihrer neuen Country-Music-CD die zu 100% aus eigenen Kompositionen besteht, zögerten die Schweizer Wahl-Freiburger Alex Klein und Enrico Pestalozzi nicht, bis nach Nashville (Tennessee) in den USA zu reisen. In Begleitung einer Gruppe heimischer amerikanischer Studio-Musikern, darunter Pianist Dwain Rowe, musikalischer Leiter von Brooks & Dunn, erreichten sie eine CD-Produktion, die weit über ihre Erwartungen hinausgingen. Abgesehen von dieser Produktion waren die Energie und die allgegenwärtige Fröhlichkeit, die diese Welthauptstadt der Country Music ausströmt, für sie eine Quelle der Inspiration und der Faszination. Sicher ist, dass diese Erfahrung nur den Anfang einer Liebesgeschichte darstellt, die Alex Klein und Enrico Pestalozzi noch öfters zu dieser reichen Country-Kultur im Süden der Vereinigten Staaten führen wird. Gegründet 2003. Der Name « Las Vegas » stellt ein Wortspiel dar, das sich auf die « players » (die Spieler, d.h. die Musiker) bezieht. Gruppe unter der Leitung von Alex Klein (Lead Vocal, Gitarren) und Enrico Pestalozzi (Geige, Mandoline, Vocals), zwei Schweizer Wahl-Freiburgern (leben in Marsens bzw. Vauderens). Diese zwei Cowboys kommen zusammen auf mehr als 70 Jahre musikalischer Erfahrung. Begleitet werden sie in der Schweiz von einer Konzertband aus erfahrenen lokalen Musikern. Ihr Angebot umfasst 2 bis 6 Musiker in Elektro- oder Akustik-Version, wie dies kürzlich am Festival de Montreux 2009 der Fall war. Ihr Repertoire umfasst ausschliesslich Country & Line-Dance. Von Anfang an wurde Wert auf eine optimale Show im Verbund mit der Line-Dance (Country-Tanz in Reih und Glied), denn sie sind überzeugt, dass die Tänzer der Country Music die gleiche Leidenschaft widmen wie die Musiker ; ihr Auftreten auf dem Tanzboden ergänzt die Leistung des Orchesters und zeichnet ein buntfarbiges Bild der Country-Darbietung. In Konzert umfasst das Repertoire zu 60% eigene Kompositionen, zu 40% die grossen Standards der amerikanischen Country Music in neuen Arrangements. Sie treten an Festivals und Country & Line-Dance Events 40-50 mal im Jahr in der ganzen Schweiz auf, und auch in Frankreich, wodurch sie zu einer der begehrtesten Gruppen der Spezialität gehören. Sie wurden schon zweimal nach Ägypten eingeladen. Zweites Album nach einem ersten Opus in 2006. Erforderlich waren anderthalb Jahre Vorbereitung (Kompositionen, Arrangements, Lay-outs). Aufgenommen in Nashville (Tennessee, USA) im Mai 2009. Für Alex und Enrico wurde der amerikanische Traum wahr: eine Rückkehr zu den Quellen und zum wahren Country-Klang, um sich noch intensiver von der Country-Kultur durchdringen zu lassen, die ihnen so sehr am Herzen liegt. 17 Lieder, gemeinsam von Alex und Enrico komponiert ; 16 davon singen sie auf Englisch. Das Lied Colinda mit seinem Cajun-Kolorit, wird halb englisch und halb französisch gesungen (so wie ein gutes Fondue-Rezept „halb und halb“ aus zwei Käsesorten besteht); diese Doppelsprachigkeit ist ein Symbol eines kulturellen Bandes, das für Alex und Enrico den Süden der USA mit dem Kanton Freiburg verbindet. Mit der Beteiligung eines speziellen Gastes, Alicia Mary, einer jungen Sängerin aus dem Gefolge der « Little Dreams » von Phil Collins, die zwei Titel singt, wovon sie einen zur Gänze komponiert hat. Alicia, die Amerikanerin ist, hat ebenfalls den Text zu mehreren Titeln des Albums verfasst. Co-Produzent ist Scott Neubert vom berühmten Studio 19 in Nashville (das unter dem Namen « Music City » unter anderem dem Gitarristen von Elvis Presley, Scotty Moore, gehörte). Für musikalische Ohren ist übrigens eine Spur « Southern Feel » (Feeling aus den Südstaaten) in dieser CD hörbar. Äusserst bereichernde Begegnungen sowie die Erfahrung im Kontakt mit den Musikern in Nashville, die durch und durch authentisch sind und von sehr hohem Niveau (jeder von ihnen hat mit den grössten Stars der Country Music in den USA gearbeitet): von Alex und Enrico angeheuert, entwickelten sie nach dem ersten Überraschungsmoment einen ordentlichen Respekt vor diesen Schweizern, die die Mainstream-, also die traditionelle Country Music spielen. Eine kleine Anekdote zur Unterstreichung des hervorragenden Niveaus dieser Musiker : 16 Titel von 17 waren « first takes », bei denen schon die Erstaufnahme gelang! « Welcome Home » bezieht sich auf den Einwanderungssektor amerikanischer Flughäfen für heimkehrende Amerikaner. Album: “Welcome Home” To produce their latest Country Music CD made up of 100% compositions of their own, Alex Klein and Enrico Pestalozzi, two Swiss musicians living in the Canton of Fribourg/Switzerland, did not hesitate to travel all the way to Nashville Tennessee (USA). Supported by a team of local American studio musicians, among them pianist Dwain Rowe, musical director of Brooks & Dunn, the result has exceeded their expectations. And beyond this production, the energy and fun that is emerging from the world capital of Country Music has both inspired and fascinated them. No doubt that this experience will only be the beginning of a serious love affair between Alex Klein / Enrico Pestalozzi and this rich culture of the Southern USA. The band Created in 2003. The name « Las Vegas » is a play on words referring to the « players » (= the musicians). Directed by Alex Klein (lead vocals, guitars) & Enrico Pestalozzi (fiddle, mandolin, vocals), two Swiss musicians living in the Canton of Fribourg (Marsens and Vauderens respectively), Switzerland. The song Colinda is sung half in French and half in English; it symbolises for Alex and Enrico the cultural bridge which spans from the Canton of Fribourg to the US. With the participation of special guest Alicia Mary, a young singer who came from the « Little Dreams » foundation of Phil Collins, and who is singing two songs on the album, one of which she composed on her own. Alicia, who is American, has composed the lyrics for several other songs on the album as well. Co-produced by Scott Neubert at famous Studio 19 in Nashville (which under the name « Music City » has among others belonged to Scotty Moore, the guitarist of Elvis Presley). A trained ear may by the way sense that little Southern flavour in the sound of this record. Fruitful meetings and a rich experience with Nashville musicians, authentic and of high musical level (each one of them having worked with top Country Music stars in the USA), hired to play with Alex & Enrico, and who after an initial stage of surprise showed high respect for these Swiss lads playing mainstream (traditional) Country Music. A small anecdote highlighting the level of these musicians: 16 songs out of 17 were « first takes » during recording sessions. « Welcome Home » refers to the immigration channel in airports addressing American people returning to the USA. Through this title Alex & Enrico express feeling « at home » in this Country symbolizing Country Music.
